February’s meeting (02/20/23) was hosted and sponsored by Sargent Corporation, from 10AM-1PM, located at 3 Godfrey Drive, Orono, ME.

Anthony Gioseffi and Stephen Smith with United Rentals presented on trench safety, focusing in on fall protection, access/egress solutions and trenching fatalities. Adam Hinsman with Sargent also highlighted their Back Cove Project in Portland to discuss some of the unique challenges they encountered with trenching and excavations and the means and methods they used to combat hazards.

Our January meeting will take place on TUESDAY, January 17th from 10AM-1PM at the SafetyWorks! Maine Training Facility at 45 Commerce Drive in Augusta, ME.

The first two hours being dedicated to MUTCD Road Worker Safety, where Peter Coughlan will be covering the following topics:

– Flagging Requirements

– Work Zone Basics

– Work Zone Design

– Common Mistakes in Road Work

The last hour was left for networking and lunch sponsored by Jessica Smith with S.W. Cole. Thank you, Jess!

Our December meeting took place on December 19th, from 10AM-1PM at Clark Insurance in Portland, ME.

David McGuan, Area Director with OSHA, presented on the regulatory agenda, emphasis programs and initiatives, outreach and the enforcement process.

The November meeting for the CSAM was held in Auburn, Maine and generously hosted by N.S. Giles. Peter Koch from MEMIC presented on Winter Slip/Trip and Fall Prevention, followed by Dan Thibeault with MEMIC covering Winter Construction Hazards and Controls.
